Tailoring a Better Future
Need : Economic development Needs
How has this gift changed their lives?
After the demise of her husband Binu was forced to manage the household as well as provide for the education of her children. Fulfilling these tasks was tough as Binu was unemployed. In this time of crisis the local church community came to her help. They taught her tailoring and embroidery.
Having learned of her needs, World Vision provided Binu with Rs. 15,000 to buy a sewing machine and further her interest. Soon Binu started stitching beautiful sarees and even undertook embroidery orders. What’s even more commendable of Binu is that she used the fund to empower other women in that area. So far 15 women have benefitted from her act of kindness. On an average her tailoring helps her earn about Rs. 250 a day, by which she manages her family and expenses.
The education of Binu’s two children - Cherian (16 years) and Abraham (13 years) is sponsored by World Vision.
